Los Angeles Air Force Base

Los Angeles Air Force Base*, Space and Missile Systems Center. El Segundo, California. The project included two new buildings containing more than 500,000 s.f. of office space, a new child care center, and extensive renovation of the existing office campus.

The project required an act of Congress to allow a swap of Government owned land with a private developer, in return for construction of the new facilities. The dynamic facade and new signage were located at the main entrance to the 52 acre campus.

A Dining Room, Cafeteria, and Bar were located behind the sloped facade.

A new plaza was created between the buildings to soften the architecture and allow enough space for assemblies.

The new Child Development Center was the first structure to be completed to provide child care for children of the military and civilian personnel working on the campus. *Consultant to Nadel Architects, Inc.
